This website has been prepared for a planning application to An Coimisiún Pleanála for planning permission to construct a renewable energy development in the townland of Cooloo, and adjacent townlands, Co. Galway. The proposed development is being brought forward in response to local, national, regional and European policy regarding Ireland’s transition to a low carbon economy, associated climate change policy objectives and to reduce Ireland’s dependence on imported fossil fuels for the production of electricity.
The proposed renewable energy development will comprise the construction of 9 No. wind turbines with a blade tip height of 180 metres and all associated infrastructure and works. The proposal meets the threshold for wind energy set out in the Seventh Schedule of the
Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, on foot of a notice issued by An Coimisiún Pleanála (the Commission) and is therefore being submitted directly to the Commission as a Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) in accordance with Section 37E of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended.
An Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and Natura Impact Statement (NIS) have been prepared in relation to the proposal and accompany the planning application for the proposed development submitted to the Commission.
